Duct Mount Relative Humidity & Temperature Sensor

AcuHUM DM Overview

What is a Duct Mount Relative Humidity and Temperature Sensor?

A duct mount relative humidity and temperature sensor is a digital polymer device designed to provide accurate and stable humidity/temperature readings in the duct system. Commonly used in HVAC infrastructures to deliver real-time data for building automation systems to adjust the heating, cooling, humidity levels and ventilation based on environmental conditions.

AcuHUM DM Applications

Illustration of the HVAC air conditioning monitoring feature of the AcuHUM DM Relative Humidity and Temperature Sensor.

Monitors HVAC Air Condition

Engineered to be easily integrated into duct networks, AcuHUM DM features a built-in probe with adjustable depth, an IP65 enclosure, and a PE polymer filter for protection against dust/debris. The RH/temperature sensor accurately monitors the humidity and temperature levels of the air flowing through the ducts, making sure the HVAC system operates at the optimal condition.

Support Economizer Function

Measures the temperature and humidity of the return air, AcuHUM DM allows BAS controllers to compare the conditions between indoor and outdoor environments to automate the internal circulation of outdoor air for more efficient cooling, and to minimize energy consumption while ensuring optimal indoor environmental conditions.

Humidification & Dehumidification

AcuHUM DM monitors RH level of the supply and return air in real-time, delivering accurate readings to the air handling unit (AHU) to adjust accordingly. If the humidity level is out of the optimal range, typically beyond 30%-60% RH, the system will automatically trigger humidification or dehumidification functions to ensure a comfortable environment.

AcuHUM DM FAQs

Does the AcuHUM DM sensor come with temperature compensation?

Yes, the AcuHUM DM sensor automatically compensates for the temperature effect when measuring the relative humidity level, delivering accurate data that reflects the real air condition.

What is the RH measurement range and accuracy for AcuHUM DM?

AcuHUM DM offers full range of RH measurement from 0% to 100%, which is mapped to analog outputs either 0-10VDC or 4-20mA, with ±2% accuracy from 20% to 80% RH at 25°C.

What is the drift rate for AcuHUM DM?

All RH sensors experience drifting over a long period of time. AcuHUM offers a low drift rate of less than ±0.5% RH/Year, ensuring long-term stability and performance.

What is the average lifespan of the AcuHUM DM sensor?

In a typical office building or commercial space, the sensor should last up to 10 years under normal operating conditions. Extreme environmental conditions such as high humidity and temperature, and exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, cleaners, solvents, or other corrosive agents, will shorten the lifespan of the sensor and void the warranty of the product.

Does the AcuHUM DM utilize a capacitive or resistive sensing element?

The sensor employs digital polymer sensing technology that incorporates a capacitive RH sensing element, delivering faster response time, better accuracy across the entire measurement range, and better long-term stability.
