Accuenergy Steps into Extended Frequency Range with AcuCT Hinged EF Series Current Transformers

Toronto, ON – May 06, 2026 - Accuenergy Inc. enters the field of extended frequency measurement by announcing the launch of the new AcuCT Hinged EF Series. The new extended frequency series is designed for high accuracy and extended frequency measurement in Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) and Electrical Current Signature Analysis (ECSA).

Motor-driven systems represent approximately 29% of grid electricity consumption, yet only around 4% commercial buildings and up to 25% industrial buildings are controlled by VFDs. This indicates that approximately 80% of motors lack modulation capabilities. New energy efficiency mandates are driving the market towards VFD integration. This shift increases the need for developing extended frequency measurement in advanced motor diagnostics.

Standard current transformers have an operating frequency of 50 or 60Hz, the AcuCT Hinged EF Series offers an optimized frequency response range from 50Hz to 2kHz for VFD and harmonic analysis. MCSA analyzes motor current waveform to identify rotor defects, and mechanical imbalances without interrupting the motor operation. With an extended frequency response up to 2kHz, the AcuCT Hinged EF split-core current transformer enables low-order harmonic spectral analysis up to the 40th harmonic in a 50Hz system and 33rd harmonic in a 60Hz system. This extended frequency range makes the AcuCT Hinged EF Series ideal for monitoring analysis of VFD-driven motors.

The series is now available with two ultra-compact extended frequency models, AcuCT-H063 and AcuCT H-138. The AcuCT-H063 is designed for lower current range from 5A to 150A at 0.5% ratio error. The AcuCT-H138 is complaint with IEC 61869-2 Class 0.5 for a higher current range from 200A to 600A. Both models provide a 333mV output and maintain linearity up to ten times overload, making it compatible with a wide range of power meters and data acquisition systems.

Engineered for installation with limited panel space, the series features a hinged split-core design for rapid installation without disconnecting the power supply. The AcuCT Hinged EF Series is UL Recognized and certified with CE and RoHS for safety and compliance. It features a voltage withstand capacity of 3.0 kV and is built with UL94V-0 flame retardant nylon case material, supporting operating temperatures ranging from -25°C to 70°C (-13°F to 158°F).
