User Control, Roles, and Permissions for Building Energy Management

Organizations use cloud-based energy management platforms to monitor, analyze, and manage energy data across multiple facilities. As these platforms scale, structured user management becomes essential to control access, maintain data visibility, and ensure secure system operation.

AcuCloud SaaS Energy Management Software, developed by Accuenergy, provides user management functionality that allows administrators to create users, assign roles, and define access permissions across facilities. This ensures users can access only the data relevant to their responsibilities while maintaining system security and data integrity.

Adding a New User and Activating User Access

When adding a new user, basic information is defined, including the username, first name, last name, and email address. Once these details are entered, the account must be set to “Active” to enable login, ensuring that only authorized users can access the platform.

Role Assignment and Permission Control

Roles define access levels within AcuCloud. Users can be assigned as a Normal User, Organization Administrator, or Account-level user, depending on their responsibilities.

A Normal User is granted access only to facilities assigned by the Organization Administrator, with permissions configured as either view-only or edit to ensure interaction is limited to relevant data based on operational requirements.

An Organization Administrator has full control within the organization, including managing users, assigning facilities, and configuring permissions to maintain centralized access control and system visibility. Organization Administrators can be assigned the roles of Technician and/or Reviewer for internal teams and authorized service partners performing commissioning, troubleshooting, and meter verification in the field on behalf of Accuenergy.

An Account-level user is used by AcuCloud resellers to manage multiple clients under a single account, allowing separate subscriptions and invoices for each client while providing the reseller with centralized visibility of all meter points.

Password Setup and First-Time Login

Once a user is created, an email is sent with a temporary password. On first login, the user is required to change the password to ensure account security and prevent unauthorized access.
